Hmmm - I've found they don't like being moved at that size - they've usually got quite a deep tap root by then ... up to you of course ... you could tie it to a cane to stop it flopping towards the path.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
I would get rid of it unless you don't mind huge numbers of seedlings. My late mum had some next to an area of gravel. Suffice to say I spent many an hour removing healthy seedlings from the gravel. I suppose you could decapitate the head once seeds form, then hang it somewhere 'safe' where the dicky birds can feed.
Fantastic plant-year round interest and the birds love them-we had about 10 goldfinches feeding on ours ! Mind you I am forever picking out seedlings from around the area !

I think I would mover it now, if it's close to a path, because once they get older they become very prickly!
Really nasty sharp spikes along the leaves and stems.
Lovley plants when in the right place though, and very good for wildlife.

I'm with Dove, they have huge tap roots, and are difficult to move.
As they die after flowering it shouldn't be a problem.

Will flower soon and won't like disturbance so it's either leave it where it is or the compost heap.
I love them and so do the seed eaters. Whether to keep it depends on your style of gardening and how much room you have.

Mine tend to get blackfly but the birds that drink from them sort them out
