Various questions about a new hedgerow of plants

Thanks everyone. Are the photos close enough now for an accurate or updated opinion on which each plant is ?

Dove, I think the opposite side of the fence faces north (and the flowers side south). There isn't a lot of light there as a shed is very close to the flowers. When I took photos I noticed at least 2 of the plants appeared very dark on the LCD and all needed a flash at 6am when daylight. Going by a meter I just bought, the soil by the dead looking plants says : 5 out of 10 for moisture (dead centre between Dry and Wet). It is bark type soil. The light level showed 500 out of 2000. For Acidic and Alkaline it should much closer to Alkaline. Those scores above are having not been watered for approx 2 days.

I have now been left to do the watering for a week while my parents are away. What do you reckon, a watering can each plant per day ? Or is that too much ?

When I type in pyracantha on Google images they don't seem to match too closely, or are there just 100's of different varieties ?

    Thanks again all !!

    Hi Jon image

I'd agree with gladioligirl that  the first plant is a Pyracantha and that's how it should look - green! It seems to be planted very close to a tree of some kind so it might not establish very easily. 3 and 5 are laurels and I think the other two might be lilacs as someone else has suggested. 6 and 7 do look like older Pyracanthas (pretty substantial main trunks on them) which could be why they're struggling. I'd be inclined to prune them right back to where you can see green growth and see if they come away - the more top growth a plant has, the more difficult it is to get it happy when it's moved to a new spot. Not sure they'll make it but  it's worth a shot. Alternatively, you could put them in  biggish pots to get a bit of growth and then replant. I'd agree with nutcutlet that it's a slightly odd choice of shrubs but I'd water in the way she suggested for now, and as Woody has said,  check with your parents and see what they're really looking for and go from there. You'll get plenty more advice once you have a chat with them image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
