Home Grown Meal

AshdaleAshdale Posts: 149

Just harvested our first produce of the season and cooked up our first home-grown meal.  Our own spring cabbage, shallots, new potatoes, with broad beans and runner beans frozen from last year, washed down with last year's homemade elderberry champagne.  Lovely!

Isn't it great to pick and eat veg straight from the garden.  We've had two pickings of broad beans already, and we're having the first spring cabbage with toad in the hole for supper this evening - doesn't get much better does it?  image

Toad in the hole, was that from the garden too?

We've only seen half grown ones here - not much of a mouthful image

Yes, Dove, it's very satisfying and healthy to eat your own produce.  Our autumn-sown broad beans are nearly there too so we'll be having the first picking in a couple of weeks.  this is my first year of autumn sowing and I have to say I am sold!  It really helps with succession growing and spreads the work load.image
