Chainless

In 2014 I planted a laburnum tree which flowered in May with dozens of golden chains.

This year, although the tree is growing, and appears to be thriving, no chains have appeared.

Is this normal? Do they flower every year, or have I a problem?

Hi Colin I have the same problem this year last year it was loaded two years before that only half the tree came into flower my tree is 11 years old anybody help
  • My neighbour's full grown laburnum is laden with flowers but our small, dwarf tree (4 years old) is just forming flowers now. It flowered for the first time last year. I blame the cold weather this spring - and it has been cold up here in the North East.

  • Thank you for the responses - A t least it seems I'll have something to look forward to next year!
