Hi there
This plant - two of them actually - has/have appeared in my garden again this year and I've no idea what it is or where it came from. The delicate flowers are a rich mauve colour.
Can someone identify it please?

It's one of the hardy geraniums - someone will tell you which one

might venture one of the G. sanguineum hybrids.

Geraniums have a firing mechanism for dispersing their seeds so if your neighbours have one of these plants, they can easily travel to your garden. Or the birds might have brought it.
I have deliberately left wide gaps in my paved area and filled them with gravel for plants to self-seed. I have several geranium sanguineum that have appeared in this way. It is very interesting to see what you get, as they don't all turn out to be the same colour!
