Easy to strike from cuttings. Do you know anyone local you can beg a cutting from?

  • Our neighbour has one but it is a very pale pink and I'll grab a chunk of that but I hoped to have something flashy too!

    Photonic  Red robin ? Evergreen

I have just bought Photinia pink marble. It was from Morrison's £3-50  : it is hardy , attractive colourful leaves, some leaves have a very deep burgundy shade , rather than the pink .

  • I have red robin and pink marble, I am looking for hardy and low growing heavy flowerers. image

Evergreen even better, so I will open this up to other suggestions!

My pink geranium has stayed green almost all winter and has been blooming for a while now. Cut back it will bloom all year.

I have grown loads of Osteospermum from seeds this year, dont know if they will be hardy because I pulled all the mother plants up in autumn, as they finished flowering.

I find they can go leggy and woody so would rather have new plants every year.

They were blue and white, Sky and Ice I think they were called.

Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.

Steve I'm in Scotland and get a 'short' summer and never predictable weather.  Lots of rain and wind.  I can't remember which osteospermum I have but they are white with navy blue in the centre.  They've been in the garden for 4 years and have had harsh weather.  I leave the foliage until about March then cut them to a couple of inches above the soil and they absolutely bounce back every year - same size blooms from about mid-June and last until late autumn and often into winter.

My favourites were a bright stunning rusty colour but they didn't survive a year outside.  In fact they disappeared into the ground the first autumn and I never saw them again.

I also have a mixed basket large square container which 4 years ago had really good compost and leafmould.  The oteos in there were a dark lilac and shiny dark yellow.  They have also lasted 4 years outside in what must now be mediocre compost.  I've never fed them - just watered when they come up and lots of leaves spring up.
