Fig tree pruning

Hi,
I have a fig tree growing in a pot in my garden and it's starting to grow in all sorts of directions, is it worth pruning out some of the new branches now? Any tips on pruning?

Apart from the odd iffy leaf, your tree looks a perfectly normal shape for a fig. Are you wanting to grow it against a wall?
It needs as many leaves as it can have in order to photosynthesise and produce energy and grow - the leaves will get bigger anyway.

I'm a bit of a ponce when it comes to fig leaves and like them to look perfect with no odd shapes or wrinkles but Dove is right, a small plant needs them all in order to grow big and strong.
A fig tree is a beautiful thing and I hope yours produces a lot of fruit.
So the upshot is to leave it for now and then shape it a bit when it develops further.
