How to tie a conifer

I have sadly just taken down a large conifer and the little one beside it looks really sad.  It has become a bit misshapen.   I would like to tie it to make it look better and hopefully it will fill out a bit as it is getting more light.  What is the best way to do this and should I use wire or garden twine.
