Creocote & climbing plants

Hi there

I have creocoted my fences recently; how long do I need to leave it before re-attaching new established ivy?

Many thanks

Its creocote, the creosote substitute.  Unfortunately I cannot find anything on the web to suggest how long to leave it before putting plants up against treated fences etc.

    Many thanks

I had the same dilemma Izzybusy earlier this year, using creosote substitute too. With my honeysuckle its not such an issue as it clambers up rather than being attached by modified leaves. I did have to pull off some ivy though but I've noticed it at ground level again. I think just let the ivy take its chances? I don't think you have a lot of choice.

I'll leave it for a week; it doesn't feel oily to touch but if the wind is blowing in the right direction I can still get a definite whiff of that creosote smell.

    Many thanks for you advice.
