comfrey in newly seeded lawn

Hi everyone hoping I can get some advice.  Recently had my garden landscaped and levelled.  I put down some grass seed where I was planning on having a lawn area.  Its been about 4 weeks now, and not only is the new grass growing but loads and loads of what I think could be comfrey throughout the new lawn.

From what i have read about it, the root is very fragile and broken bit will regrow into new plants (I think some bits of roots must have been in the soil and when its be levelled it been chopped up into loads of tiny bits which have grown)

What is the best way to get rid of it.  Do I just mow it this year and put weed and feed lawn stuff down next year, or will that not be strong enough to kill it.  Or am I looking at having to use glyphosphate and kill the lawn at the same time.

Any advice would help loads.

Jamie, I have moved comfrey several times in my garden and while it is impossible to get all of the roots out, you can eventually get rid of it in unwanted places by pulling it up every time it re-grows.  I suggest you hand pull it until your new lawn is old enough to begin being mowed, after which I think the regular mowing will eventually exhaust it.  Alternatively, your idea of using feed & weed next year should do the trick.

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

Continually mowing it will deal with it.
