experimenting

I am trying an experiment this year with my blackberies.

I have observed that the terminal bud is by far the biggest in any bunch on the plant and it always opens first.

I have removed a large number of these buds in the hope that the plant will then concentrate on ripening the other ones at the same time and give me a better crop.

Has anyone tried this? and if so what was the result please?

Or you could try growing blackberry "Reuben".

It has massive fruits and you can treat it like an autumn fruiting raspberry. I have flowers now on last years canes, and new canes coming up which will fruit in autumn.   Canes are only 5 ft tall, I tie them to a post.
