How do they do it - slugs?

hogweedhogweed Posts: 4,053

How to slugs manage to find juicy young plants in a garden my size? I planted some delphiniums and some lupins a few days ago and sprinkled around them with slug killer. Went out today and could not believe the number of empty snail shells that were littered around the plants. How do slugs and snails find their prey in a large garden full of plants? Is it by smell or what?

Not sure but got the same problem, poor bought lupin was in garden one night and attacked. Next day got 7 snails off it, two were procreating too!

I will be smug as well then...if you walked round my garden to collect them you'd still be out there now image

Just a few pellets are enough to attract them away from your plants, no need to turn the soil blue.

I have some good ones at the moment, as they were organic and can be used on your veggies with safety, I didnt think they would work, but they do!

If you have a smallish garden, Nematodes are the best.
