Mystery plan doing well

    Figwort? (The second one). A plant I associate with canalsides etc.

    Helianthus sounds about right for the first one, not that I'd have been able to guess myself.

    WillDB: you are right, but we don't have a canal!  I've had a search around and I've confirmed mine is the common figwort (Scrophularia nodosa).

    Figwort does like damp places but will grow almost anywhere.

    I should learn to read all the words, I thought I was looking at the grown up version of the first postimage

    A nice plant to have, Paul. Not exactly showy but interesting for a wilder part of the garden.
