Blooming squirrels
i've had this lime green acer for several years and it brings a lovely splash of colour against the duller greens. I couldn't believe it when I looked out of the window the other day and a squirrel was busy plucking the fresh green leaves off the tree and eating them. Over the course of one day it stripped it bare. Question 1) why.?Question2) will it recover ? Question 3) even if it does recover I can see it being stripped again, so what could I replace it with to get the same effect.

The acer has been in a pot in exactly the same position for about 8 years. I just can't understand why now. One of the little horrors has had a go at my cherry tree today, pulling off clumps of leaves but not eating them. The cherries are minute and can't possibly be edible yet. I despair!!!
