Patchy grass

hi,

I am not that experienced at gardening but have realised that I love it and like having a smart and tidy garden. We put down a new lawn last summer and prepared the soil first (following advice from a well known gardening book). The turf looked lovely for a few weeks. We followed advice with regards to watering it and didn't feed it too soon.  We bought medium quality turf as we have kids so want it to be hardy and tolerate a bit of playing on.

The problem I now have is it looks very patchy. Parts look thick and green and parts look quite pale green (almost yellow) and seem to be a different texture.  It has no weeds in it but flowers if it gets more than an inch long.

Does anyone have any advice on how (if at all) I can get it all looking the same colour and possible texture again please?

Thanks, Becky

A lawn maintenance regime is needed me thinks. A good scarify and a feed about 3 days after cutting watered in unless you have rain will do it the world of good.

  • Thank you both for your advice. Can you recommend a good lawn feed by any chance please?

There are quite a few to choose from and really they are all pretty much the same and do the same job. Go to wilko and get one off the shelf.
