Can anyone identify this weed and suggest how we can get rid of it?
Hello - a friend has a garden that is full of this weed, and would like to get rid of it. However before we can research ways of getting rid of it, we need to know what it is! Does anyone have any idea what it is (and how we could get rid of it)?

That looks like Vinca Major - the periwinkle - have you ever seen it have pretty blue flowers like these? http://www.crocus.co.uk/plants/_/vinca-major/classid.4503/
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
If it is vinca, it does tend to smother everything around it. We found it didn't like being cut right back - even if we couldn't get the roots out, chopping it close to the ground was quite effective. But it does tend to come back eventually.
It does indeed look like that - we've never noticed the flowers but I think he cuts it back as soon as it gets out of control so maybe it's never had the chance to flower! We'll look into it more now we know what it is - thank you for your help!
