Idenitfy this plant
Hi,
Can anyone help me identify the following plants? I am unsure if they are weeds or not but they grow from a woody stem that appear dead and are climbing all over the other plants. Thanks

From what I can see that looks like clematis.

I agree with Dove
clematis! Looks healthy!
So do I, definitely clematis.
Brilliant!! Thats what I was hoping it was! Thanks.
What is the best way to train this to go along the fince so it doesnt strangle all the other plants/trees?
And I was also wondering if you know what these plants are too? Think one is a passion flower but not sure of the other one thats about to flower.
First one looks like another clematis to me.
The second and third is a peony - you lucky thing

Peony for sure! Further on than mine! But then I've had no sun in weeks!
Looks the same colour as an ancient one of mine which is well in bud ATM. So is my beautiful 20+ year old orange rose next to it. Bit of a riot of colour at that end while the other is dominated by a rather good blue Ceanothus
Thank you so much for your help guys...still learning and getting there with all your help!
I am lucky in that when we bought this house the couple that owned it had been here for 40 years so I can't take any credit for my garden whatsoever. Last July when we moved it the garden was amazing so I am trying to keep on top of it as much as possible to keep it nice
Both the climbers are clematis but it will be hard to tell what forms until they have flowered. My guess is that the second one is C. montana, and that can't be trained or really controlled except by the sort of pruning that will also prevent it from flowering. So you need to decide whether other plants are threatened by it. There are less overwhelming clematis, but this is brilliant for concealing large/unsightly structures. It flowers in May, so if it hasn't any flowers now, that's because it was pruned down at the wrong time of year and you'll have to wait until next year to find out what it is...
The other clematis looks more likely to be something like a tangutica form with yellow bells--these are cut back in mid-February to 2-3 pairs of buds from old growth and they can then grow up over the summer to give late interest. It could also be a large-flowered form--then it would be a considerably smaller plant and not need pruning at all. Let them both flower, and if you post a few pictures when they do, we can have another go!
Brilliant thank you Cambridgerose! I will take photos and let you know for sure
