Matthew- there are lots of people on here who are really knowledgeable about fruit. If you start a thread asking for help with that specifically, someone will be able to advise. Unless they look on this thread they won't see your query  image

If the wilting has happened suddenly it might be worth looking at the roots in case of damage from vine weevil.  I can't think of anything else obvious that could have caused sudden wilting. I hope that's not the reason - someone else may offer a different theory. Has there been weedkiller sprayed nearby or a grass weed and feed applied recently?

  • Thanks Fairy,

No. No weed killer, or weed and feed.

I'll get onto a specific fruit based post straight away; I'm keen not to lose it if there's anything I can do, however I'm currently not holding out much hope image

If it is/had been lack of water, how long should it take for a good watering to perk it up?

If you watered on Friday I'd have expected it to be looking happier today. You might get some more replies tonight or tomorrow as many people are out gardening through the day.

We're all still learning Matthew so don't worry about asking  questions. The forum is full of great people who'll help as much as they can image

  • No signs of vine weevils. No leaf damage, the tree's not in a pot (so apparently is less of a risk).

Unfortunately there no sign of any improvement...

May I ask if you've been snipping away at your tree recently? Cheery trees are one of the few trees that you shouldn't prune until mid summer. They hate it and can cause bacterial probs.

  • No, no pruning for quite a long time (maybe last year during summer). Thanks for the help, it's good to know about seasonal pruning
