How and where to site a Bee house ??

hello, having decided at the beginning of last year to try and encourage more bees/butterflies and then planted the relevant plants/flowers (then we had the wettest summer so far !!!). i would now like to help even further by building/constructing somewhere for the insects to hibernate over winter.

can anyone tell me how to go about this and if there are any sites available to view on the internet ??
