Rogue plant taking over garden!

Looks like the Phlox in my garden too. I too made the mistake of digging it up in the beginning and I'm so sad that I did because they are beautiful. It is a perennial that grows up from a woody base (mine did anyway) so I'd be surprised if you had woody stems if it is.

Maybe best to wait until the summer and see if it flowers. If you'e only been in a short while in the house you may have a whole host of plants which grow up.

  • Wait and see it flower, then post us a pic.

  • Thank you everyone for your input, I really appreciate it. Although I don't think I can wait much longer to get a grip on this plant, even if it is phlox and lovely, as has now almost taken over an entire flower bed and more. Will try to thin it out/remove at least some of it so it doesn't end up strangling the rest of the garden (or - even worse - getting into next door's).

However lovely it is you won't want it everywhere. Leave a couple of clumps and dump the rest.

Many moons ago when we moved into our first property I was advised to leave the garden for a full year  So I could see what plants , bulbs  etc that were in the garden.I'm pleased i did !
