Large Chrysalis
Anyone out there know what an elephant hawk moth chrysalis looks like? I found a very large (7-8cm), dark grey-brown chrysalis when weeding yesterday. It was more or less on the surface of the soil, buried at the base of thick moss, so reasonably protected.
I'd take its photo but I can't remember which clump of moss it was in...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Wow. That's even bigger than the one I found - but looks pretty similar.
Thanks Dove.
