Hardy annuals will be fine, mine are 6 -9" tall now, outside. Half hardy annuals need heat, shelf over radiator, electric propagator. Getting a bit late for sowing.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
I agree with busy lizzie, May is the last recommended month for planting many annuals and for many others it is too late, I started off some annuals like lobelia in January indoors. However you could still try some fast maturing annuals if you planted them very soon
I think calendulas and nasturtiums can definitely still do, and perhaps also californian poppies and sunflowers... most of the annuals "for children" germinate and grow really quick

Ok thanks,I will get sowing
The only thing you wil get going in time for a summer showing would be cosmos.
You really need to sow annuals by mid to late march then pot on until you have a big plant to plant out at the end of may.
How about nasturtiums?
