New Pepper Plants

My friend gave me three pepper plants (in approx 3 inch pots) and already I think I have done something wrong they were looking dry so I watered them but now some of the lower leaves are starting to shrivel up and look papery! Am I over or under watering????

Probably over-watering - especially in coolish weather. Let them dry out and keep them in a greenhouse or on a light windowsill until the weather warms up. Only water when the compost is dry, then give them plenty and let them dry out again before watering.
