sanjy67sanjy67 Posts: 1,007

I bought an hibiscus 'kopper king' in the winter and planted it as instructed in good fertile compost, ive googled it and i'm sure it should be well up out of the ground by now?

I'm really disappointed as was looking forward to that coming up image

here in reno where it's usually hotter than GB, hibiscus moscheutos is usually up the 1st or 2nd week of june-so patience. remember, they are tropicals that happen to be hardy in northern climes.

Hibiscus are one of the last shrubs to come into leaf in the UK.  I planted two in autumn 2013 and one showed signs of life in late May last year but the other waited until nearly July!  As Davids10 says, nothing to worry about just yet. image

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

thanks, i was worried as it says flowers from june to oct, so thought it should be at least out of the ground by now but i'll just have to put my patient hat on image

ive got the tiniest leaf just peeking out, at the rate it is growing i'm not sure it is going to be big enough to hold a dinner plate sized flower image
