Slow coach hardy geraniums

TinglyTingly Posts: 140

Can anyone offer any advice/explanation why my hardy geraniums are sooooo slow moving this year please.?

Ive done all the usual, good quality compost/grit mix , in a ghouse, but so flaming slow

any hints as to how to get em moving?

thanks

Cold weather like most plants so far this year not enough heat and to much cold winds. Hopefully soon much more hotter and less windy weather is on it's way across the country.

Ooh thanks for that- they are all still in their trays in the greenhouse

praps its time to start hardening em off now then (ooh matron!)

actually ive tried one new variety this year - apricot shades- and they are in sunlight- i shall reposition them tomorrow.

am jealous of your large uns Verdun - wish mine were!

    thanks again

    I'm puzzled image

You talk about them being in a greenhouse and you speak of a variety Apricot Shades.

I don't know of a Geranium Apricot Shades and I can't find one online anywhere, but I do know of a Begonia Apricot Shades, and certainly you would be starting them off in a greenhouse, whereas a hardy geranium would usually live outside all year round.

Are you confused, or am I? image

  • I agree it does sounds like they are the Begonia's .....

I might be barking up completely the wrong tree Verdun, but it's the only way I could make sense of the various things Tingly was saying in his post - and heaven knows, I've muddled plants up plenty of times before now - it's easily done image
