Thin Rhubarb

JOHN 5JOHN 5 Posts: 2

Hi, can anybody please advise me about my rhubarb. It’s been in the garden about 6 years, I don’t force it, (I prefer the taste of naturally grown) looks very healthy but the stalks are very thin, can anybody shed light as to why, and how can I make it thicker.

I agree but mine are only getting the right size to pick.A couple of years ago I had a plant like & I just left it for a few years until it built up again. Or you could divide it when it's dormant.

    Hi

Thanks for the advice, I haven’t picked any at all this year, there has been little point. But I think I have always picked it constantly in previous years, but I never have had a thick stalk since it was planted, and I know it can’t be the variety as there’s two different types.

so ill just leave it alone, I'm guessing I should clear it in the autumn once its wilted, should I mulch now, or in the autumn.

    Looking forward to next year...

    Many thanks
