Viburnum carlesii sudden death

Sue 30Sue 30 Posts: 5

Help please - my vib.carlesii which I have enjoyed for about 8 years formed its buds in early Spring, and then dried out & died without even a leaf on it. The bark on the thicker branches, including ones 3ft off the ground, is peeling away but it is not ringed. We do not get deer or rabbits in the garden, and none of the surrounding shrubs are ailing. Any ideas please?

I have photos but this site doesn't seem to like them - tells me they have invalid content!

Recently heard a talk at a horticultural society about moles.  Apparently their movement under a plant can cause it to die and then the woodlice move in.
