Alpine phlox

DyersEndDyersEnd Posts: 730

The pub I go to sometimes (oh alright, quite a lot) has the most stunning bright pink alpine phlox in a large pot outside and the very kind landlady has said I'm welcome to take a cutting.  It has leaves that look like a fir tree if that helps.

Question is how and when.  Lots of detail please, I'm new to taking cuttings from anything.

Any time. Just take a piece about 2 inches long which has no flowers on it. You may have to wait until it has finished flowering though. Gently strip the leaves from the bottom of the cutting and put the bottom half in a pot of gritty compost and keep somewhere lightly shaded. They root very easily. If you look round the base of the plant you may find shoots with roots already.

That's brilliant both of you.  Many thanks image
