I have just joined gardeners world and I have read your post, although it is old, you were right to conclude that the fuchsia was Hawkshead, there is another one similar called magellanica Alba, but with two main differences, 1, magellanica Alba has a Corolla that is very soft pink and 2, it does not have green tips on the sepals, the parts which form the bud.
Hawkshead is a lovely fuchsia and very easy to take cuttings. Brutal pruning rescued mine from a bout of gall mite last year and they're absolutely fine this year.
I'm afraid none of the people who originally posted on the thread, still post here @stephen.mcmellen.49 apart from @Lyn, so they're unlikely to see your responses
