Two Pots

Hi everyone the old couple a few doors down from me asked me the other day while in my garden could i plant up two pots one for each side of there front door. They want long flowering scented perennials which will need little looking after. What would you plant in the two pots which are 30 cm wide 60 cm deep.

    Wow. They want it all. I would tend to use creeping thyme because the foliage smells wonderful and the flowers attract bees, plus it is very easy to look after and will spill over the edge of the pots. You could add height with an evergreen grass so that there is year round interest.

    If it's sunny - Dianthus are about the only thing I can think of Andy image

    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    Thanks Ceres and Fairygirl got about 60 Dianthus plugs from the seed i sowed in one of the greenhouses.

    Scented geranium!  Tough, easy to dead-head, little effort, flowers all summer long, and scented foliage.. so smells lovely even when not in flower!

    Erysimum 'Winter Orchid' -  beautiful scented flowers from early spring through to autumn - all that needs doing is dead-heading and feeding, then cutting back after flowering.
