Houttuynia cordata

autumngloryautumnglory Posts: 255

I'm considering putting a houttuynia in the splash zone of my water feature, but I'm thinking I might regret it because it's so invasive. If I plant it in a pot in the ground to stop the suckers will it stop the spread or is it just going to find a way around?

I've tried Google to see if there's any advice on containing it, but everywhere I've looked just says don't plant it!

I wouldn't have it within a mile of my garden after the last experience I had with it.  Also I think it smells absolutely vile (although I suppose that's down to individual taste).

I think I'll stick with keeping it in a pot, don't want to risk it! I'd heard it didn't smell very nice but I can't smell anything! image
