Nettle 'tea' is best for those leafy things which prefer a feed high in nitrates and comfrey is better for fruit and flowers which prefer a more balanced mix of nutrients.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
Since comfrey provides a high source of potassium, and bananas have a high rate of potassium also, I am wondering if the banana peel itself also has potassium. Does anyone know about this?
THANKS EDD, your reference was extremely informative. I guess I wont need comfrey. My family eats tons of bananas and I compost all the peels, but now I will try banana tea!
Those seem to say that you chop up several banana skins, put into a bucket of water and leave for a few days. Then strain and dilute with 5 parts water to 1 part banana tea before using on your plants.

Beware though, home made nettle feed absolutely honks!!
What is your experience with nettle feed? I am not looking for a nitrogen feed, just the potassium feed from bananas or comfrey.
Thanks for the instructions. I know its a great option. I choose to just do they regular composting.
Although I am willing to experiment with banana feed in place of comfrey, I am wondering if anyone has a formula for doing that?
Does anyone have a recipe for banana tea in place of comfrey tea?
