Mystery Plant

Hello,

Is anyone able to identy this plant? It's appeared in my mum's new border, and she's not sure whether it's a weed, or a formerly cherished plant, long forgotten!

It's not very big, maybe 25cm along it's length in total. And it has tendrils which make it look like a possible climber?

Many thanks,

Vic

There are two plants there. The trailing one, white briony, Bryonia dioica and possibly an eder seedling peeping through. You can tell for sure with the elder by the smell.

I can't enlarge it, but I can see two plants there.

To the left there's something that looks a bit like a trailing pelargonium (but I may well be wrong as I can't see it clearly).

Peeking out from beneath it to the right is something that looks like a Sambuccus (elder tree).

Vic, it look like there may be 2 plants there.  The one circled in red below may be an elderberry tree seedling.  The other looks like something from the cucumber family.

Can you enlarge it now Dove?

  • Thank you very much nutcutlet and dove from above. I'll pop on my gardening cloves and get it out of there!

Thanks Bob, but no - it stays the same - I find that happens with some pictures - sometimes it happens with pictures I've already clicked on and enlarged an hour or so previously image  Most odd.

I've started using FireFox for this forum - the pics open in a separate window and it seems much more consistent than IE or Chrome.  There are so many settings on these things though and several of them can affect images! image
