Newish Turf
Hello, Very new to any concept of garden but at the moment I want to focus on my lawn. I am currently living in a new build where turf was laid Sept 2014 then we moved in Nov 14, so all winter the turf was looking pretty good, not over grown and very green unfortunately I left it too long for first cut and ended up cutting it too short, resulting in it being very pale with patches, so after that I was just taking it for a couple of days after to ensure any loose or dead grass was cleared, after a couple of weeks (with a lot of rain) it was starting to look a lot better and greener, though again due to weather I couldn't get out to cut it, so it was left too long so I cut it at the highest setting in my mower, though it def doesn't look as bad as before it is still pale in colour and patchy. So I am looking for any advice on what I should be doing when with tasks such as scarifying, aerieating, feeding, cutting etc. I do believe the grass will come back a bit greener but just want to get it right this time, I understand that cutting it often is vital which I'm ready to do. I've also bought Evergreen 4 in 1, though I am sceptical about whether I need this yet or not. Any advice at all I could follow would be great. Thanks for reading my post and hope to get some response of what to do when?

Builders take off all the topsoil on a site and sell it leaving just enough to give a thin layer over compacted earth to lay out turf, it does not stand a chance. Verdin is spot on though it would help if you had the time to aerate. I use my fork and push it in to the turf every six inches then throw a mix of washed sand and compost on the lawn brushing it in with a hard broom. Doing that a couple of times gives the grass roots a chance. Eep the mower blade up, I keep mine two lawns at one inch, a weed and feed Autumn and spring keeps them looking good. Good luck.

I hate predictive text? You end up with unreadable posts.
