sedge in lawns

The sedge is in several small patches in the lawn. Each spring brown flower spikes emerge which are cut off by mowing. I would like to eradicate it. Digging it out is not an option.

There must be a specific weedkiller that can be used. Digging it out is bound to leave traces of rhizome.
It's been in the lawn for years. There are a couple of products which deal with nut sedge - Sedgehammer is one.
I'm not sure which variety it is but I can identify it. Drainage is ok where it is and I feed my lawns appropriately at the recommended times of the year.
My error folks. It's Common Woodrush - Luzula campestris. A common weed of lawns. There are treatments available for this. Dr Hessayon has some ideas. I'm sure the interweb can provide further info.
