acer help pleeeeease.

This winter I trimmed all the dead wood but that was all because it had been a little weak the previous summer and I didn't want to upset it too much. Now it has come back 10 times stronger which is great but now it's in full leaf I have realised I should have trimmed it alot more. I know that it's best to do when it's dormant but at the moment it looks really scruffy with loads of crossing branches and it's is recent growth spurt had resulted in a very un even, branches poking out too far here and there, not very attractive looking tree. Can I prune it without upsetting it at this time of year ???

No you have to prune from November to February when it is dorment if you prune this time of year it will bleed

I agree with Logan - they bleed sap if trimmed now and often bleed sap until they dieback. Just wait till first frosts.

you can if you must but of course could be an issue, use cutting paste and be minimal to what cut off

Thankyou Bonsai-Marc but I must try to resist because I know really it would be bad for the tree.
