Ground prep for new turf

Hi,

we are going to lay new turf on a 44 sq metre patch which was previously gravel, we've done all the digging and treading etc - do we fertilise the ground now or do we wait until a few days before the turf is laid( it'll be a couple of weeks till we get the turf)

also does the ground need to be wet when we put the fertiliser on or do we water after the fertiliser is on
