Agapanthus problem
Last year I bought a beautiful agapanthus which I put into a terracotta pot and it was amazing with 6 flower spikes. I left it out over winter as it was a hardy one and we are on the south coast and sheltered.
I have watered it over spring and there is signs of new growth one side but the other side is doing nothing.
I trimmed away the old dead growth to look for life and there is rotten material with smelly slimy stuff. I have removed this down to a white hard base. Lots of woodlice hiding in the dead stuff but nothing else.
What is wrong and any suggestions for helping it recover?

remove it from the pot and have a look at the roots. Might be vine weevil damage.
ok will do, what do vine weevils look like? if I find them what do I do?
vine weevil grubs eat the roots of many plants, including agapanthus. Look for little c shaped white grubs and squish them. You can buy a product, I think Provado make it, to water into the pots to control them.
just been out in my PJs to look and good news, the roots look healthy, no damage and no grubs, very pot bound however, only a tiny bit of soil on top and the rest is just a mass of roots, should I re-pot or stick into the ground? It currently is in a B+Q medium size terracotta pot.
thanks ++
