Ants
Hi, suddenly I have lots of ants in my Acer tree, any advice or should I leave them alone. I have a fish pond so I have to be careful what products I use

The ants are most probably moving some aphids in your tree. You could try one of these:

I put one on my young cherry tree as it was covered with aphids and ants last year. So far so good! At least it won't bother your pond.
Thanks for info, will give it a try. The only thing bothering my pond just now is a Heron! we have a net over the pond but the Heron still has a go1
hello -? I have an 8 year old tree which has ants regularly crawling up it but now the leaves and buds ate full of aphids - It looks as though the ants are attacking the babies (as you'd expect) but for the first time ever the tree looks quite poorly. I don't like pesticides, so for example I usually hand pull them off the roses but there are too many? I'll try this ring but any ideas how to get rid of what's there already?
I have discovered ants in a glazed planter I have at the back door. The ants have been crawling over the pansies in the pot and in the last hour I've found some crawling over the flowers on my strawberry plants. I have put ant powder in the glazed planter a couple of times recently, but it doesn't seem to be doing any good
Thanks Verdun, will get one at Wilko early next week. I am concerned about these young plants, as they were doing so well until now
You could use ant powder underneath the pot, rather than in it. Ants sometimes look for making a nest in pots. Watering plants well can help put them off it but I find powder underneath more effective in my garden (so many ants!).
@blighty mam I did start out by putting ant powder around the slabs near our back door, especially in the corners. But recently noticed ants crawling over the petals of flowers, so puffed some ant powder on the surface of the compost.
I had a problem last year with an ants nest in a large terracotta pot on a patio, they were so bad that I decided to take the acer out of the pot and put it into the soil instead of the pot. The ants moved or died off after puffing powder into the base of the empty pot. Powder usually does the trick, but this lot must be hiding under the soil in the pot and then coming out later on
I'll put some more powder under the base of the pot tomorrow.
Thanks for everyone for your advice.
