Azalea autumn princess

Hi there i have recieved an azalea autumn princess in the post today but was wondering does it really make much difference if i planted it in ericacious compost or just normal compost? Also if anyone has any tips or general advice that wpuld be greatly appreciated thanks.

    Hi Phil, although I'm new to gardening I have been bugging this lot for extensive advice and started a thread called azeleas for beginners, I have been advised to pH test my soil, you will get lots of tips on that thread or add your own question to keep it going image good luck!

    Hi phil yes it does make a difference, it has to be ericacioce compost, after flowering dead head it.

    Hello,, can anyone advise me about pruning Azalea's?  ive just planted two each of Santa Maria and Madam galle. They are about 30cm high and just getting some flowers blooming. Will they need pruning, if so when and by how much ?

     Any help would be very much appreciated
