Yes, my dwarf fruit trees have a 1m wide bare area. However, trees often have a very wide root spread. A buddleja I removed had roots tunnelling many metres under the lawn, way beyond the branches.Trees are supposed to be insensitive to this stuff, raspberries less so. But rain can mean migration of large amounts of water through the lawn horizontally, on slopes anyway.
The data sheet on Verdone says do not dispose of clippings in the municipal compost dump.
