What is my plant and can it be saved?

LittledorieLittledorie Posts: 10

Novice gardener SOS here!

I was given this plant last year and promptly misplaced the tag and forgot what it was called. We then went on holiday and our neighbours kids forgot to water it for us. (I don't think I'm ever going to make it to Chelsea with this attention to detail am I?!)

anyway, as you can see, it's not looking it's best. It had beautiful pinky purple bell flowers on it last year. I'm not sure how clear it is in the picture but it does have a healthier looking new shoot popping out from the bottom at the moment.

so what do you think? Is there a way to save it or is it destined for the big compost heap in the sky?

any advice would be very gratefully recieved, even just a reminder of its name would be a good starting point for me!

Thanks!image

Hollie hock, I think you have it! The name sounded a bit familiar and a bit of googling showed up the right flowers. Thank you!

Now what to do with it.....the green on top isn't new this year, just last years growth that survived the drought. Only the bottom shoots seem to be new and growing well this year. Wondering whether to cut it back and give it chance to put all it's energy into these new bits or is this likely to see it off altogether? i have been known to be a bit snipping happy in the past!image
