Frost damage
We had a severe frost recently and a Fatsia that was in a container was badly damaged. Will it recover and what treatment should it receive now?

Fatsias are not 100% hardy. I often get frost damage on my mine and it always seems to recover, with no special help from me.

How big is the Fatsia? I have seen mature ones survive -18C with just the new leaves fried. What does the new growth look like and can you post a pic?
I have had it in a large pot since purchasing last year and fully intended to keep it in a pot as I have had no success with Fatsia's in the garden borders due to living in a frost pocket. Just wondered if I should cut it back to the main stem? It is an immature plant.
I would cut off the leaves but leave the stalks of frosted leaves. They will eventually turn black and fall off themselves but will be providing some nutrients until they do.
Thank you for your responses.
Mine is the same Elizabeth, and also in a large container. I leave the frosted leaves and it gives a bit of protection to new ones emerging underneath. By coincidence I looked at mine this evening and there's lots of new growth there. I removed any totally dead leaves a while ago and I'll remove the remaining blackened, damaged bits as the temps improve and the new growth gets going. I do very little to mine - a seaweed feed in summer and watered thoroughly during long dry spells.
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I planted autumn bliss Raspberry's in Nov.2014 as per the book, it's now May.2015 and l can only see two new shoots, has the rest failed or would there still be time, or should I dig them out they were quite expensive at the time and I'm a bit reluctant to give up
