MYSTERY PLANT?
in Plants

Hi, this plant has appeared in my garden and its absolutely stunning, the colour is a white with shades of green. Its in the garden of a new house we have bought and is currently hidden behind a small hedge. I would love to move it and place it in a more prominent position, but want to know a little about it in case I damage it by moving it. Can anyone tell me what it is and how to propagate? Im a little new to this gardening lark, so bear that in mind with any advice!
Kind regards,
Dan

it's a helebores that has already flowered and that is the seed pods that are left, you can proporgate them and take cutting but i'm sure someone will tell you how, mine is helebores christmas rose and looks like yours does now, but it did have white flowers on before but yours may be a different one, i have a few helebores and they are lovely, not sure when to move them, i did move mine but that was about two months ago with no ill effects. you can grow them from seed but i think thy take years to flower.
Lovely fat seed pods. I'd let it seed, or catch them and scatter them in a shady spot. Collect the seed but don't save it, sow it.
I think it's one of this sort

Ignore the colour in the link, they range from white, through pink to very dark purple

All - Really grateful - will await the drying of the seedpods and scatter away! Would love to have a deep full bed of them, think they would look phenomenal en-masse. Thank you.
why wont they be the same colour if I take the seeds from the seed pods on this plant - I would have thought that they would be the same?
It depends on the bees! If yours is the only plant in the neighbourhood then you might get quite a few looking like your plant (though some might look like mum or dad) but if there are other plants around you could get a glorious mixture!
If you do want to grow the seedlings on it pots, then take them up almost as soon as they have germinated, even before they have true leaves. They very quickly make large roots runs and they hate having their roots disturbed at the wrong time of year. Also when you do come to move them (September is best for bigger plants) then do not let them dry out while out of the soil. That does them no good at all. I tend to drop seedlings into a bucket of water to carry them to the potting shed.
