Shade loving flower suggestions please

Amy LathwellAmy Lathwell Posts: 102

Hi all

Please can I have some suggestions for flowers that do well in shaded or dabbled areas that are good for containers? Trailing flowers would be great as some of the containers will be hanging.

Thanks in advance!

Dappled - not dabbled! Sorry - typo!

I'm guessing you are thinking of bedding/annuals, of which I know little, but why not try Geranium 'Anne Folkard'? Will take dappled shade, will trail and spread several feet (and flower all summer into Autumn), plus it will come back each year (and you can divide it and plant elsewhere in the garden). G. 'Rozanne' is another cracker, but will not 'go exploring' through other plants like Anne Folkard does.

Some small-leaved variegated ivies would be pretty trailing over the edges of the containers, and would look fine with any of the above image
