cauli &calabrese problem

.Ibought some calabrese & cauliflower plants from a local garden center &after 6weeks growth I noticed they had a small knuckle like growth where the head should be growing. I was told that they were blind.what causes this .help on this appreciated

    Hi - it sounds as if it's too cold for them to be planted out.  Did you harden them off before planting out?  A lot of the garden centre veg plants are sown early in greenhouses and look great when you buy them but it depends on the variety as to when the plants should be put into their final planting space.

  • Dorcas I think I have found the culprit causing blindness to my brassicas the swede migde it lays its larvae on the stalk
