Identification of tree

I have an amazing plant in my garden and I'm sure it's species name is Black something. My dog has chewed the label and I shot recall its name. It grows upright not outwards and is just starting yo have flSt multi bud flowers on it. I'm so mad I can't recall its name. Please can anyone help.

    I should have said the leaves are pointed and such a dark dark green I think that's where it gets its name from.
