Please help me win!

Hi,

My family are having a summer flower competition. We have all have one large pot and £20 to spend. Please give me recommendation for the best and easiest flowers to use and how you think I could make mine special!

Also please tell me if this is on the wrong topic as I am new so was unsure!

Thank you!

I'd go for some large leaf hostas mixed with smaller veriegated hostas, surrounded by Begonia semperflorens (or some other deep red flower.. maybe impatients?).

As they are in a pot, slugs won't be as much of an issue.. just try to keep it up a bit higher.. maybe on a table?  And as it's a shade planting, you won't have to rely on bright sunny weeks for an amazing show.  And the red/green contrast will be amazing.

If you can choose a pot color, go for a matte grey color.. like dry dark slate.
