Can I move a mature Euonymus fortunei Emerald n Gold

I have a mature Euonymus which I think is Emerald n Gold. It has been in the same site for more than 20 years and is about 1.5 metres wide and 0.5 m high. It now liiks out of place and I would like to move it. Is it likely to survive?

    In a word - yes!

You might want to cut it back a bit to make life easier - for you and the plant. Prepare the new site thoroughly with some fresh compost and a bit of food, and once you've moved it, keep it well watered until it's established. They're pretty tough so you shouldn't have  a problem. I've moved euonymous quite often with no issues.

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

Take a few cuttings when you trim back the plant then if it doesn't survive, you will have some replacements on the go. Euonymus roots really easily in damp vermiculite or a jar of water.

I also have a mature euonomus, Emerald & Gold which has outgrown it's place in my border. I would like to transplant it elsewhere. It is approx 2'6" tall & is stiled as a big ball which is like a ball of sunshine in early spring. Should I root prune it in the Autumn? When would be the best time of year to move it please? Any tips would be appreciated. Thank you in anticipation!

Thank you so much. It's like an old friend & I don't want to lose it. Feel confident to follow your instructions late Sep.

Will post again next year to hopefully inform you all is well. Happy gardening. Val.
