organic matter is sprouting!

Two weeks ago I had organic matter spread on my beds after relandscaping the garden. Three of the beds were brand new dug from a dead lawn area. Since then I have picked dozens of (I think) sprouting sycamore seedlings which I can only assume were in the new soil as I have never had this problem before.
Question is, was I sold a substandard product or is this within the bounds of acceptability?!

Probably not Muriel, just luck of the draw really. It does depend on where you got it from and if there were any guarantees with it.
